The Hellenic Society of Gynecologic Oncology and the Hellenic Gastro-intestinal Study Group are organizing the 4th Scientific Seminar MISGO: «Gynecologic Oncology meets Colorectal Surgery», with the support of the MITERA-HYGEIA hospitals trust.

The purpose of this seminar is the joint training of gynecologists and colorectal surgeons in advanced surgical techniques with emphasis on the surgical anatomy of the pelvis and the retroperitoneal space. The interdisciplinary training of surgeons and gynecologists aims to promote knowledge sharing, familiarization with new techniques, and the development of solid teams within referral centers. The official language of the seminar is English and Greek.

The seminar will be held on December 16th & 17th, 2022 at the facilities of the Anatomy Techniques and Training Center in Athens, a modern training center built specifically to host hands-on cadaveric courses.

On day one, we will begin with targeted presentations on anatomy and surgical techniques, a complete dissection of a cadaveric trunk with emphasis on pelvic surgical anatomy and anatomy related to oncologic surgery.
On day two, trainees in small mixed groups of gynecologists and surgeons will perform laparoscopically and then open, hysterectomy, abdomino-pelvic lymphadenectomy, pelvic peritonectomy and TAH-BSO en block with low anterior resection. Then, trainees will work on the upper abdomen with standard dissections as part of a complete cytoreductive operation. The groups of trainees will be assisted and guided by experienced gynecologic oncologists and colorectal surgeons.
